Erin Brown, known as The Concrete Cowgirl, is a riding instructor and much more.
We partnered with her to hear insights into horse care and to learn more about her program, in result we picked up this great tip:

She is the Executive Director at the Philadelphia Urban Riding Academy (PURA), which mission is to “preserve and educate the public on the history and culture of black urban cowboys in the City of Philadelphia as well as provide a variety of equine related activities and educational opportunities to the public.”
PURA is providing a space for people to learn about horses and get involved in their community. Erin helps bring students the opportunity to learn about Western and English riding (specifically hunt seat and stock seat), and she teaches a range of levels.
This is a program that has made significant impacts in the lives of Philadelphia children and further (seriously, check out what they have been doing and have in planning!)
They have exciting programs in the works including Concrete to Showjumping, Junior Concrete Cowboys and Cowgirls program, and Horse Clubs. To learn more about these programs visit PURA’s website at www.thepura.org
“Philadelphia Urban Riding Academy is a nonprofit 501c3 which is an extension and outgrowth of the original Fletcher Street Stables. Our participants are no different than any other, we just add a little hip hop to everything that we do.”
